| Prof. (Dr.) Krishna Shama Rao, has trained extensively in both the fields of Medicine and Dentistry. He graduated in 1980 from Bombay University after training at the Nair Hospital Dental College which is a premier institution in India. He subsequently underwent didactic training in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery from Mangalore University. He submitted and defended a thesis on “the role of muscle reconstruction in cleft lip surgery” as part of the post-graduate training. Subsequently he travelled to London and trained as a Registrar in Maxillofacial and Facial Plastic surgery at the Royal London Hospital, London, which is one of the first medical schools in the world. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in England in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery – FDSRCS (Eng.). Craniofacial surgery at Mangalore and was soon recognised as an institute of training by the Royal College of Surgeons, England and Edinburgh leading to qualifications like FDSRCS, MFDS, AFRCS, MRCS. He subsequently returned to UK, to obtain the FRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, following training in General Surgery, Craniofacial surgery and Aesthetic Surgery.
Prof. Krishna Shama Rao, has established an extensive practice in Aesthetic surgery and reconstructive Craniofacial surgery and travels extensively both in India and abroad to deliver key note addresses and demonstrate surgery.
Currently he is the President elect of the Indian Society for Cleft Lip Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies.
He is an honorary advisor to the WHO on its panel for Global Strategies in prevention of Craniofacial Anomalies.
He was the first editor of the cleft journal of the Indian Society for Cleft Lip Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies.

Immersed at all times in the spirituality of life, Dr. Krishna Shama Rao, has devoted the past 30 years in acquiring an immense foundation of skills and knowledge to deal with every aspect of reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery.
He has acquired a wide range of skills and developed his own unique blend of surgery and philosophy. He has also been credited with some amazing makeover of celebrities from Indian Cinema (Bollywood) and from abroad.
